Community physicians, do you have patients in a long-term care home? Please note that the hours of coverage have changed due to the stipulations set out by the Memorandum of Understanding between the Long-Term Care Initiative (LTCI) and Island Health.

The change states that on-call physicians must now provide coverage from 6pm – 8am. Weekend coverage will begin at 6pm on Friday and end at 8am on Monday. Statutory holiday coverage will remain as 24 hours. This change is going into effect across the LTCI, i.e. for Victoria, Saanich Peninsula, and Sooke.

Please note that outside of these new coverage hours, care homes will reach out to the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for a resident.
