Doctors of BC notified of a phishing campaign using division email addresses that look authentic. The header may mention ‘remittance advice’ and the body links to a webpage asking for passwords. The Victoria Division has not been affected but this is a good opportunity to remind everyone to be vigilant about phishing.
• If you receive emails that seem suspicious – that are from unusual senders, request information such as passwords, or aren’t phrased the way a division communication usually is worded – do not respond and do not click on the links.
• If you have clicked on the link of a potential phishing email, the best practice is to change your email password immediately to reduce your risk of being compromised.
As a reminder, the Doctors Technology Office offers family physicians guidance on up-to-date health technology solutions, including enhancing clinic security.
