More than 130 physician members, their guests, medical students, Division staff, and members of the Indigenous community joined us on October 20 at the Delta for a fun and interactive Annual General Meeting. This year’s theme, Connection in Action, came to life through networking, Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and performances, and a lively trivia showdown.

Directors’ Report
Dr Melissa Duff highlighted select Victoria Division achievements and developments, including:
- New Victoria Division office and PCN Allied Health Centre
This new space marks a milestone in sustainable and culturally safe team-based care and relieves family physicians of significant non-medical burdens. It’s a shining example of physician-led innovation enabled through meaningful partnerships and trusted community relationships. - A growing, connected, supported community
This year, we grew our general membership by 11%, expanded locum support, and created new opportunities for connection, engagement, and well-being. - Strategic Plan 2025-2029
Released in June, our new plan guides us towards our refreshed vision of a community where family physicians thrive and lead excellent care for all. For the first time, it also embeds a commitment to advancing Indigenous cultural competency and safety. - Widening our circles
In today’s challenging environment, the Board has asked Division staff to explore additional partnerships and funding opportunities to keep physician-led innovation strong. Further, just last month and organized by Doctors of BC, Vancouver Island Divisions of Family Practice met with Health Minister Josie Osborne at the Legislature and shared how we are improving primary care. - Supporting our most vulnerable patients
-The PCN surpassed 11,700 new patient attachments, including 1,265 high-complexity/priority and 450 maternity patients.
-The Long-term Care Initiative welcomed 14 new physicians.
-A pilot ER protocol for OUD patients helped reduce “left without being seen” rates at RJH.
-Specialist engagement and new referral resources are strengthening collegiality and easing care transitions.
