Results from the Mayo Clinic’s Physician Well-Being Index (WBI) between November 2025 and April 2026 show that, in the Victoria and South Island region, participating family physicians in their first five years of practice are experiencing the highest levels of distress.
If you are in your first five years of practice, please know that you don’t have to navigate challenges alone. The Division is here to support you – from getting to know your practice, to helping you work through challenges, to connecting you with local resources or supports available through partners such as Doctors of BC. Even if you are unsure what support you need, we encourage you to reach out at [email protected]. We are here to listen and explore how we can help.
Or, if you feel more like meeting up with peers and enjoying some social connection, consider joining the September 13 BBQ.
To our more experienced VDFP physicians, thank you for the many ways you support and encourage colleagues who are newer to practice. Small acts of connection, encouragement and mentorship can make a meaningful difference.
