On September 26, Health Minister Josie Osborne sat down with Vancouver Island Divisions of Family Practice at the legislature. Organized by Doctors of BC, the meeting highlighted the many ways physician-led innovation is advancing team-based care. Here’s what she said and posted on her Instagram page:
“Huge thanks to Vancouver Island Divisions of Family Practice for sitting down with me at the end of the week to share the many ways DFPs are strengthening primary health care, from the ground up. Such valuable insights from communities like Victoria, Denman Island, Comox Valley, Port Alberni and more. These organizations bring family doctors, nurse practitioners, and health professionals together to build local primary care in team-based settings and ensure people can access the care they need, closer to home. Our conversation focused on how team-based care is improving services across Island communities, what indicators and data we need measure and collect so we can inform the ways team-based care continues to build. I’m grateful for the commitment of these health professionals and their dedication to patients and families – and the personal insights they each shared.”
