Membership Information

Become a Member

The Victoria Division of Family Practice is all about fostering an engaged community, providing professional support and advocating for family physicians, and co-creating and co-leading meaningful change in our community. The Division supports family medicine-trained doctors to leverage their collective wisdom and experience to improve primary care for physicians and their patients in Victoria. Sustainable ways to practice that support physician well-being are at the heart of our mission, “Happy doctors, Healthy communities”.

The Victoria Division has more than 700 members, including 420 general members. 83% of them are engaged on some level, from using Division services to leading our work.

  • Physician Health & Wellness is a Division priority. Our regular socials offer time to come together for connection, sharing concerns and ideas, or asking for support. The Physician Peer Support Program is available for confidential one-on-one emotional short-term support. Drop in at our CBT4MDs grads coaching sessions or local Mindful Mondays to keep your skills fresh, or join monthly Physician Walks. Our Newsflash regularly features new wellness offerings and access to our Physician Wellness Hub. Staff is available to support you to find the right work setting for your preferences and work-life balance.
  • Take advantage of Practice Supports for recruitment, retirement planning, career transitions, patient medical home development, and more. Division staff is available to help guide you to the right information.
  • Access allied health professionals who chart directly in your EMR and become part of a resourceful cohort within the Victoria Primary Care Network
  • The Urban Locum Program (ULP) pilot in Greater Victoria’s primary care networks aims to offer up to 20 days of annual coverage for eligible family doctors and a career pathway for new physicians into longitudinal care.
  • The Division’s Long-term Care Initiative has a strong infrastructure of programs and supports to help interested family medicine-trained doctors add a long-term care panel to their practice.
  • Members receive our bi-weekly Newsflash which curates all the relevant information you might need.
  • Members have the opportunity to address local issues together with like-minded family physicians, backed by Division support.
