Following its announcement in March 2024, our future Victoria Primary Care Network (PCN) hub at 1025 Johnson St – also known as the Dalmatian building – has reached another milestone. On June 6, Elders from Songhees First Nation came together to bless the space.
An Indigenous blessing ceremony during the construction phase is key to ensuring the new offices for team-based care will feel culturally safe for all patients. As the project progresses to the interior design phase, Indigenous artwork and specific welcome messages will further support our vision of a culturally safe, patient-centered space.
Construction of the PCN hub is proceeding swiftly. With the 6500-square-feet office slated to be ready in the late fall of 2024, there are many reasons for members, allied health professional (AHPs), and staff to feel excited. The new hub will accommodate, attract, and retain the 30 planned AHPs for our PCN cohorts supporting patient medical homes for years to come. This ensures the sustainability of the very core of our PCN service plan for team-based care. It will also bring Division staff supporting the PCN closer to the AHP team and serve as an easy-to-access venue for meetings and small learning events.
