Thank you to all who took part in our survey! Clearly, board socials (Beer Banter, Coffee Talk) are popular. But more could be done to accommodate your time/location preferences and bust some myths. Here are the details:
You’re loving the board socials
Of 63 participants, 96% agree the board socials fulfill their purpose. They’re all about giving you a chance to connect face-to-face with board directors and building peer community. You most appreciate having a good time (100%), connecting with the Board and getting to know the directors (79%), catching up with old and new colleagues (each 83%), discussing hot topics (71%), and feeling part of the community (63%).
Mixing it up: new times and locations
For the 51% of you who haven’t made it to a board social yet, the event time has been the main barrier. So we’re trying something new and have begun alternating Beer Banters between Thursday nights at 7:30 pm and Friday afternoon at 4 pm. We hope Thursday nights will particularly help physicians with small children to stop by.
Plus, we’re offering new venues. While 57% of you prefer the Penny Farthing in Oak Bay, 34% asked for more central venues. We heard you and have started to alternate locations between the Penny Farthing and spots like Christie’s Carriage House or the Fernwood Pub.
Cheers to Beer Banter!
The results show that Beer Banters have twice as many fans as Coffee Talks. So for now, we’ll focus on Beer Banters and hit pause on the Coffee Talks.
Come build community!
Building a strong community with ALL family medicine-trained physicians is our priority. In case you’re still on the fence wondering if board socials are for you, let’s bust some myths:
- Dress code? Nah! Come as you are. No need to dress up or prepare any questions. It’s all about relaxing, having fun, and connecting!
- New in town? Come experience how welcoming and easy-going your community is. You’ll be surprised how many connections you’ll make in just one evening!
- Not a longitudinal doctor? Great! We’d like to see many more of our non-longitudinal colleagues at our socials!
- Retired or semi-retired? Ditto, you’re a much-valued part of our community. We want to keep our connection with you strong!
- Not into beer? No worries, we’ve got lots of non-alcoholic beverages available for free.
